How to find and apply to projects

Getting Started · Students & Scholars · Updated

All available evaluation projects are listed at app.sovrano.ai. You can browse open listings without an account, but you'll need to be signed in to apply.

Browsing projects

  • Projects are listed on your dashboard and on the public jobs page.
  • Use filters to narrow results by domain (legal, medical, financial, STEM, etc.), pay range, task type (RLHF, SFT, annotation, red-teaming), and time commitment.
  • Each listing shows the project description, required qualifications, estimated pay, and any prerequisite assessments.

Applying

  • Click Apply Now Select any listing you're interested in and click the Apply button.
  • Complete the checklist This typically includes ensuring your profile is complete, finishing any required assessments, and confirming your work authorization.
  • Save your progress Your application is auto-saved. You can leave and return to finish at any time.
  • Reuse prior assessments If you've completed an assessment required for a new project, it auto-populates so you don't redo it.
  • Submit Submit your application when all checklist items are complete.

Tips for stronger applications

  • Make sure your profile is 100% complete before applying — incomplete profiles are deprioritised.
  • Tailor your skills and role summaries to match the project's domain.
  • Complete recommended assessments proactively, even before a specific project requires them. Strong assessment results can lead to direct invitations.
  • Apply early. Some projects fill quickly, and early applicants are often reviewed first.

Frequently asked questions

I see a "fit warning" on a listing. What does that mean?

A fit warning means your profile may not fully match the project's requirements (e.g., missing a domain skill or assessment). You can still apply, but addressing the gap first will strengthen your application.

How long does it take to hear back after applying?

Response times vary by project. Some projects review applications within a few days; others may take 2–4 weeks depending on the volume of applicants and project timeline. You'll be notified by email when there's an update.

Can I withdraw an application after submitting it?

Yes. Go to your dashboard, find the application under your active applications, and select "Withdraw." Once withdrawn, you may reapply later if the listing is still open.

A project I wanted to apply to is now showing as closed. Will it reopen?

Some projects reopen if additional evaluators are needed. You can check back periodically or set up notifications for similar listings. There's no way to apply to a closed listing.

Can I apply to multiple projects at the same time?

Yes. You can have multiple applications in progress simultaneously. However, remember that you can hold a maximum of 2 active contracts at once, so be strategic about which offers you accept.

Do I need to complete assessments before applying, or can I do them during the application?

You can do either. The application checklist will prompt you to complete any required assessments if you haven't already. However, completing them in advance speeds up the process.

My application has been "under review" for weeks. Should I follow up?

Application review timelines depend on the project. If it has been more than 4 weeks, you can email hello@sovrano.ai with the project name and your account email for a status check.

I was rejected from a project. Can I reapply?

It depends on the reason. If the rejection was due to a missing qualification you've since obtained, you may reapply when the listing is open. If it was based on assessment performance, you may need to retake the assessment first (if retakes are available).
