The AI interview

AI Assessment · Students & Scholars · Updated

Some roles require an AI-powered interview as part of the screening process. This is a structured, role-specific conversation that typically takes around 20 minutes.

What to expect

  • The AI generates questions specific to the role you're applying for.
  • You'll need Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop with camera and microphone permissions enabled.
  • Firefox and mobile browsers are not supported.
  • Each unique interview type can be completed once, with up to 3 retakes if needed.
  • To retake, go to your Dashboard → Assessments tab → click the three dots → "Retake Interview."
  • Only your most recent attempt is considered.

What happens with your data

  • Video and audio are retained for evaluation purposes only.
  • Interview recordings are never used to train AI models.
  • Practice interviews are available for free and are never shared with project leads.

After the interview

Expect 2–4 weeks for a response about next stages. Transcripts are not available for download.

Frequently asked questions

The interview won't load in my browser. What should I do?

Make sure you're using Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop. Firefox, Safari, Edge, and mobile browsers are not supported. Try disabling browser extensions (especially ad blockers and privacy extensions), clearing your cache, and reloading the page.

How long do I have to wait before I can retake the interview?

There is no mandatory cooldown between retakes. You can retake immediately if attempts are available. However, taking time to prepare between attempts is strongly recommended.

Does the practice interview count toward my real evaluation?

No. Practice interviews are completely separate and are never shared with project leads or used in any evaluation. Use them to get comfortable with the format.

My camera or microphone isn't working. How do I fix it?

Check that you've granted Chrome permission to access your camera and microphone (Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings). Test them on another site first. If they work elsewhere but not on Sovrano AI, try incognito mode or a different Chrome profile.

How long does the AI interview take?

Most interviews take approximately 20 minutes, though this can vary by role. The expected duration is shown before you begin.

Are there different interview types for different roles?

Yes. Interview questions are generated based on the specific role and domain. A legal evaluation interview will cover different ground than a coding evaluation interview. Each unique type has its own set of 3 retakes.

Can I see my interview recording or transcript?

No. Interview recordings and transcripts are not available for download or review. This is to maintain the integrity of the evaluation process.

I experienced a technical issue during the interview. Will it count as one of my attempts?

If the issue prevented you from completing the interview, contact hello@sovrano.ai with details (browser, time, what happened). The team may be able to reset your attempt in cases of verified technical failures.
